Dracula Book Design

School Project

Book Design

During my final design class of undergrad, the professor let each student create the brief for their final project. I chose to design Dracula from cover to cover. To accommodate the unique structure of the book (which is written in assorted letters and journal entries), I created a type system to handle entry titles and headings that could span up to four lines.

Thanks to connections from the summer I spent as an intern learning print production, I was able to get several copies printed and bound. Once I had the finished book in hand, I realized I should have made the interior margins wider. But that’s a lesson to keep in mind for the next book.
